Drawing for Industry 1
Students will work with a variety of drawing media while learning fundamental drawing techniques such as contour and gesture line, and value (shading).
Students will explore the Elements of Art and Principles of Design. Students will work with drawing problems and techniques such as portraits, the use of color, perspective, figure studies, with art history embedded throughout the course. Advanced skills in drawing, use of new materials, and presentation of works are all emphasized. Drawing is presented both as a tool that can be used in other art courses and as an art form in itself. Traditional methods of drawing will be adapted to utilize the latest industry level design software to create art virtually and to create 2D prototypes of their art. This would mean using laser engraving, and other CNC (Computer Numerical Control) output devices and the state of the art technology utilized in interdisciplinary fields.
