Drawing for Industry 2
Students will investigate the various approaches and media that students need to develop drawing skills and visual perception. Building on fundamental drawing techniques and an understanding of the Elements of Art and Principles of Design developed in Drawing for Industry 1, students will work with advanced drawing problems and developing their personal voice as an artist. Sophisticated techniques in drawing, use of new materials, and presentation of works are all emphasized as a way to develop personal expression and the ability to work at a high level independently. Advanced Drawing is presented both as a tool that can be used in other courses and as an art form in itself.Traditional methods of drawing will be adapted to utilize the latest industry level design software to create art virtually and to create 2D prototypes of their art. Currently, this would mean using scanners, large format color printing, electronic/web based media, laser engraving, and other CNC (Computer Numerical Control) output devices and the state of the art technology utilized in interdisciplinary fields (not only fine arts but computer science, engineering, business, and more). Moving beyond traditional tools like pencils and paintbrushes; digital literacy is a must, as is a talent for adapting to changing demands and tools. Students will have a digital portfolio of their work when the course is completed.
